2001 trunk leak

I have just got this car and in the trunk it has two deep plastic trays built into either side of the trunk floor. These basicly rest just to the rear of the tire wells. When i get the car washed both trays have water in them but nothing else is wet around the floor. This evidently has been happening for quite a while since the trays have water rings from many times past.
Has anyone experienced this before? I have lowered the bumpers on the trunk lid but that didn't help.
Would it be a good idea to replace the weatherstrip on is their something else I don't know about? Thanks

when you get the car washed, do you spray up under the car in those areas? if so, the water is probably getting in from underneath since the trunk vents are located there. otherwise you should look for rust holes on the outside of the weather stripping in those areas and see if there's anything that needs patching. Check the wheel wells too.

Trunk leak

I think I will go ahead and replace the weatherstrip and inspect the area.
It is only $50 and that wouldn't hurt. The water is coming in from above...there is no water under the tubs where the trunk drains are...all is dry except water in the recessed tubs....weird...

it could also be condensation if the air is rather humid in your area and temperatures tend to sway enough to glaze over your windows really often. If water collects there and doesn't have enough dry air to evaporate it, it may tend to collect.

Dear DMCGEE,
I have the same car and the exact same problem. Did you find a fix? I definitely dont feel like crawling in my trunk to see where the leak is.
