Hello and thanks in advance for your help,

I have a 2002 Mercury Sable. For no reason just shuts down at any given point (All power to the entire car) not just engine. I lose lights, instruments, radio, etc. It only lasts for a few seconds then starts back up again. A little scary when you are on a windy road at night and you lose power steering, brakes and lights. I have a decent background in working on my own cars but can't seem to figure this out. there is no pattern nor rhyme or reason behind when this happens. I went to unlock the dorrs with the key fob on my ring yesterday and the thing was dead, I had to use my key to get in, once i was in i had to turn the ignition on and off a few times before power was restored and the car started fine.

sounds like the battery cables may be loose/corroded or the battery might have a weak cell. only other thing I can think of is a loose connection on chassis ground.
