2002 Sable GS Power Windows

have read several of the post regarding power window issues. We think we may have a broken wire in the harness that runs between the body of the car and the drivers door. Issue: drivers window works fine but on occasion would not go up. Repeated tries it would close. Discovered that if we touched the harness the window would go up. As of today, the window will not go up and neither will any of the windows. Do not know if the other windows worked or not when this window would stop in the past as we focused on the drivers window.

Rocking the window switch today, very fast, the lights on the door switches would blink on for a brief moment. I can hear the cabin relay pulling in when rocking the switch.

Our guess is that we have a broken wire in the harness. What we are thinking is, is there a power source inside the door we can splice to run power to the master door switch control, or could a replacement wire, spliced into the window main power wire, be run from the cabin, punch a small hole through the rubber covering the harness then tie wrap it to the harness, punch another small hole to feed the new wire into the door area and then connect it to the main power feed to the master control switch.

It appears fishing a wire through the rubber cover between the door and the cabin would be very difficult if not impossible.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Found that the main wire for the windows was completely broken in half. It was located in the harness running between the door and the body of the car. There is a Tie Wrap holding the rubber cover on, cut that, peeled back the cover, the largest wire in the bundle was broken in half. Trimmed back both ends of the broken wire, connected with a butt splice connector and resealed the rubber cover in place.

Life is good
