2003 Sable GS intermittent miss above 3K

Have been searching forum for answer - I have a 2003 Sable GS V6 with 44,000 miles which runs like a gem till I try to accelerate over 3000 rpm and then engine will cut out and in till I back off below 3000 rpm. I have NO CODES I have replaced ignition power pack, mass air flow sensor*and checked for blocked catalytic converter. Gas mileage has dropped from 30mpg to about 25 mpg. Plugs have about 10K on them. Air Filter changed. Your thoughts?

*Today (next day) I changed out the Mass Air Flow Sensor ($100) and it made no change to my problem....NOTE a specialized AutoLight T-15 torex bit is required unless you choose to break the center pin off the two screws (another STUPID Ford idea for self repair)

Can a injector fail like this? On my 1994 Sable I had an injector failed and replaced with no issue other than a pain to reach.

Most ECUs change the way they decipher engine parameters somewhere around 2500-3000 rpm. If its consistently happening at 3k, you may have a bad sensor, or maybe a bad connection somewhere. Sometimes a sensor will go bad and still be throwing a good signal. By good, I mean within the normal range. It may be way off, but still normal. For example the temp sensor may be stuck saying it is reading coolant that is 80° no matter how hot the engine gets. Normal signal, but still wrong. I don't know enough about these new Ford ECUs to say which sensor could be suspect, so I hope this was at least a good read for you.
