Sorry to bomb you with questions but we'll need some more info..

Which engine (Duratec DOHC or Vulcan OHV) and how many miles?
Hows the state of tune? (Plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter?) IS the check engine light on? Have you ever had the Idle Air Control valve cleaned or replaced?

It has a Duratec 3.0 260,000miles, the pluges and wires were changed 2 years ago check engine light is not on. I have not done anythiing to the Idle air control

probably need to clean the idle air control valve and check the ignition coil(s) to make sure they're still good. I just cleaned the IAC on my car and it sorted the starting issues I was having.

How long has this problem been going on? Did it just start doing it? If so, what was it like before?

A new fuel filter may not hurt anything regardless.. Fuel quality is taking a nose dive.. Because there is such a surplus right now (even though prices at the pumps don;t reflect this) the gas has been sitting around and being transported between several storage tanks more than it normally was back before this past summer..

I've been having alot of customers lately with complaints of their fuel milage being lower than usual.. After smelling the gas in a few of those cars it wasn;t hard to determine why...

I 100% agree with Max. A fuel filter is the perfect place to start with your symptoms. That is if you have not already done so.

thanks for the info
