Hi. I have a 97 Sable 3.0 (12 valve) with an ignition timing problem. I replaced the cam position sensor (looks like a stubby distributer) and the timing is 22 deg btdc at idle. the manual says 10 + or - 2 deg. It also says timing is not adjustable. The problem is that the car pings badly and I have to use high test gas. I have drained the computer so many times to zero it out ,but it doesn't help. I installed the CPSensor like the Ford mechanic said, but no luck. I even set the dist. 180 degrees different than that but I get the same old stuff. Any ideas?
