Hi,
I just got my wife the 99 Sable with the 200hp Duratec. I saw that power plug in the Front and I wondered if there is some Oil Heater or whatever installed so I pluged 110v in but nothing happened. Are there some fuses or is this maybe optional? And where is the best place to bring a 110v cable into the car for using a heater? 99 Sable 24V 3.0l Duratec 200hp with 122k Kilometers on it for 3.5k$. That a good price actually? |
if it''s an engine block heater... other than pulling an amp, nothing will "happen" very quick. so unless you know for sure that the connection isn''t actually drawing current, don''t worry about it. It takes hours for this to have any real affect.
anyhow... check out page 99 of the manual. if you don''t have one, go to www.motorcraftservice.com and click on Owner Guides on the left and download yours. here''s the snippet on the engine block heater from page 99: Using the engine block heater (if equipped) An engine block heater warms the engine coolant, which improves starting, warms up the engine faster and allows the heater-defroster system to respond quickly. Use of an engine block heater is strongly recommended if you live in a region where temperatures reach -23°C (-10°F) or below. For best results, plug the heater in at least three hours before starting the vehicle. Using the heater for longer than three hours will not harm the engine, so the heater can be plugged in the night before starting the vehicle. To prevent electrical shock, do not use your heater with ungrounded electrical systems or two-pronged (cheater) adapters.Edited by: slymer |
