Hello all and thank you in advance for your help.

I own a 1990 Merc. Sable with a 3.0 V6. From the time I drove it off the lot,I noticed a strange whining coming from the drivers sidd rear of the car. I also noticed that the headlights and interior lights would pulse. Incidentally, the whining would change pitch up and down, and the lights would pulse to the pitch change.

This morning, on my way into work, the pulsing stopped and my charging system light came on. This tells me that SOMETHING failed, but I have no idea what. I have not had a chance to have the charging system checked as of yet. I plan on getting that done as soon as I'm off work today, but if anyone has any ideas in the meantime, I could really use some input.

if you have an idea what the heck is going on and what I need to do, PLEASE IM ME via Yahoo Messenger. My ID is kelly_g_on5.

Thank you again!

<DIV>Well, I figured it out after a short visit to my local auto parts store. </DIV>
<DIV>It was the Voltage Regulator that was giving me the trouble and now that it's fixed, all is well!</DIV>

That whining could it be the fuel pump

The whining you heard was the bearings in your alternator. Your alternator has an internal voltage regulator which would explain the fluctuation in your lighting. Buy a remanufactured alternator not one from Ford.

Did you read any of the symptoms. It would be assinine to think its the f.p.
