I have a 2002 Mercury Sable with manual climate controls. The function selector switch (far right switch) does not work right. It only blows air from the dashboard. Does anybody have any idea what can possibly wrong with it??

 

there are blend doors placed throughout the HVAC system in your vehicle's dashboard. Obviously they are not operational. I would start at the switch with a multimeter and move on from there as a process of elimination.
