2000 Mercury Sable LS Premium. I have recently bought the car and I am fixing the minor problems. I turn the cruise control on no light comes on. I push the set button nothing, I push the resume button the light flashes for just a sec and will keep doing this each time I push it. I have had the cruise control working three times by playing with the button untill it engages and the light stays on then all buttons work fine until it is disengaged. Then it''s murder to get it to work again. Any Ideas?

Usually a blinking indicator light on most Ford products is to let the driver know there is a problem with that particular system. ( e.g. A flashing O/D on/off light lets you know there are trans codes.)

the light only comes on when the button is pressed. Any idea what it might be considering every so often it works. Faulty buttons? Faulty computer? I have checked the brake light switch it is fully functional.

could be a faulty computer. Sounds like it may be a gunked up/worn out set button though.
