Ford is amusing. All aluminum, including oil pan, 10.5:1 high compression, sold in Ford, Merc, Lincoln and Jag. Economy of scale to build one basic engine all brands and trim levels. Differentiate by doo dads and add on's by division. 87 octane recommended doesn't do the engine justice butwhatthe hell,it's a Sable.The Jag customer, in for a few more bucks, wants more HP, if they understand anything,and Premium doesn't matter.


So, if you want better performance, use midgrade provided it sells for5 percent more max.Better performance and improved mpg. If not 5 percent, in the noise.


Given 10.5:1 and OBD II PCM, it would take one tank for the engine to determine new ignition advance settings.
