you need the code read. go to a parts store and have them read it. autozone does it for free

We did take it to auto zone and they printed out the troubleshooting list and all it told us is that the EGR has detected too much flow on the EGR system....probable causes are...

1~EGR valve stuck open
2~failed EGR pressure sensor
3~failed EGR valve
4~failed EGR pressure sensor
5~failed EGR position sensor

Then the guy told us it COULD be the mass air flow, co2 sensor, the fuel injection,or the DPFE sensor....

Didn''t really help me much..This reading was done about a year ago and an auto mechanic told me it was no big deal and didn''t really need to be changed...just wondering if I should change the o2 sensor or is it something else that is wrong...with gas prices the way they are I don''t have tons of money to waste on something that isn''t wrong...so if anyone could shed some light on my problem that would be great. Thank you so much.

You didn''t say engine or mileage. EGR valve operation is significant to engine performance. Controls combustion temp on hard acceleration and reduces NO on deceleration. Vulcan Motorcraft is $44 net plus S/H. Not a difficult DIY install.Anon Motorcraft valve began failing after 20k miles. Replaced with Motorcraft. Check to see that vacuum lines are intact esp around the EGR valve.

If this is a old code, get it pulld and read again. the light being on and store up to 25 new codes. this might help if a new code popped up. No do not change the o2 sensor yet. I would change the egr sensor or atleast clean out the connection. pull the code again

its a 3.0 Dual overhead cam with about 80,000 miles on it.

If all 5 codes were related to the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve then don''t let them sell you part after part ''til it''s fixed. Definatly pull the codes again. Let me know.

I agree with conan312. The best thing to do is pull the code, all of them again.

Ok I will do that and let you know...Thanks
