Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder for 1992 Sable

My 1992 Sable LS Wagon needs a new ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch.

The Ford Mercury people do not carry it anymore but gave me two part numbers, F3DZ5422050A and F3DZ5422050B.

The door locks are lighted, the ignition switch is chromed. Airtex has a part, 4H1220 that may work.

The door locks have integral lights. If the lights fail, you have to replace the locks.

Would there be any chance I could update the ignition lock cylinder, and door locks to a newer, more available model?

Thanks for the help.

A first quick reply.

Airtex makes the correct ignition lock cylinder (from Rock Auto ATN 4H1220) to replace Ford part numbers F3DZ5422050A or F3DZ5422050B.

If you want to use your same keys, you will need to get the cylinder set up for your current keys by a locksmith. It cost me $15 for the locksmith's work.

I will keep you posted on my progress.

A local mechanic also can set up a cylinder for the current keys and it cost the same as the locksmith.

I called locksmith garland team and they replaced the ignition lock cylinder.

$15 is a good deal for replacing the lock cylinder. A locksmith can replace it even at a less cost.
