anyone out there have problems with their car transmission and fuel pump stopping in the middle of the highway.
While going 75 miles per hour on the 15 close to Victorville my 2004 Sable with only 11,405 miles everything turned off. I was barely able to get to the right side of the road with the help of a tractortrailer driver, thanks to him/her my life was saved.
The ford dealer Sundland Ford said I was in an accident or hit a pot hole causing the inertia switch to turn the transmission off. I had to pay them $85 to have them pull the switch eventhough it is still under warranty.

My concern is has anyone been backended not knowing that their engine/transmission had been turned off due to the switch problem.

Any help?

the inertia switch is a saftey device that is supposed to trigger in the event of a rollover or bad accident.I don't agree w/the dealer charging you just to reset the switch which pretty much malfunctioned. Pot holes should not be enough to trigger the device. And I'm sure the tech could plainly see you were not in a major collision or rollover. I would call the dealer, talk to a manager and try to get your money reinbursed to you.
