looking for insight

O.k. Long story short, a 2002 mercury sable landed in my lap. Drained the engine oil and along with it drained about 2 gallons of water. How difficult is the 3.0l ovc (single, not double I think) to tear down? Any YouTube videos that can help me get an idea of what I'm in for?

Just a thought based on what I did with a older car I got from a flood area with same issue - I drained and pulled plugs and then filled with 1qt engine cleaner and ONE qt 30W oil and new filter and then turned the engine by hand for about 10 minutes and made sure it turned easy. I drained and filled with new 5-40W oil, filter and once again turned by hand. Replaced the belts and plugs and started car. I ran this car another 75K before i sold it.

Do you know where the water came from?. if from a blown head gasket or gaskets or if it wasn't indeed a flood car. And you must take into account if the car was run with any of that water and for what amount of time 2 even estimate the amount of damage to the internals. I guess what it boils down to is what you are willing to do 2 save the car. Weighing cost options Like buying a replacement engine from the Boneyard verse the price of rebuilding .... and if either option outweighs the value of the car itself.
