My ''04 Sable LS Premium (57K miles) drifts all over the highway in a brisk crosswind and is frightening to drive. I''ve never had a car that was so unstable in wind. Everything else with the steering is fine. I just had a 4-wheel alignment also, but it didn''t solve the problem. Any ideas what it might be? thanks

Does it track straight without a "brisk crosswind"? Did you buy tires recently? What did tech say about the accuracy of your alignment? Recent front-end work or any accidents? Sorry for all the questions but I find it odd that the car is all over the road. Let me know.

I have drift issues with my land yacht as well, but that''s because the side of it is like a barn and gets pushed easily in a cross wind. You should also check the air pressure in your tires. under-inflated tires will allow sideways motion easier than fully inflated tires.

Ahh reminds me of the days when I had the 90 Vic.. The thing came with some Pep Boys special tires... It was down right frightening.. Of course coming from driving a 78 Continent makes a difference... I don;t think a tornado woulda blown that tank around.. But yeah tire pressure and the grade of tires you have can make a difference... I''m guessing by the milage that you have probably recently replaced the tires??

tires are pretty recent: Continental tires. I will check the tire pressure. Also just had a 4-wheel alignment. The car doesn''t pull or drift on calm deals; only on brisk cross-winds. Someone told me to also check the front stabilizer end links. thanksto everyone for their replies.
