Loud noise under hood
 

Hello,

I'm a female who is learning about cars. My Mercury sable is making loud klunking noises from under the hood. I've brought it to a couple of mechanics. The last one is suspecting the struts need replacing or bearings are cracked. I hit a curb median pretty hard three months ago and ever since then its made the noise. I thought maybe the motor mounts or mounting pads. They said they put the car up and didn't see any problem. They turned the wheels and couldn't see any problem with the struts.

It usually makes the noise when I go over bumps and up and down hills and making turns and sometimes when braking. But once in a while I go over bumps and it doesn't make any noise-It seems as if something is loose and then falliing back into place. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas what this could be?
