Ok, so what's the deal? How do I know if my transmission has been
recalled or changed? I have a 96 Sable 24V, it seems to shift
fine and the fluid is red. I just bought it. I didn't know
there was a recall on these old rags.

 

Mine had a tranny change beforeI got it. The only reason I know it was from a recall is by the sticker under the hood and a large yellow sticker on the tranny pan stating so.So if it were to go in for filter change, theperson doing it would know that it is not the original tranny, therefore itwould need a different filter. I would contact Ford and see if your particular car had a recall for a bum transaxle. Mine was done in 1999, (according to the stickers) andis a 1997 Sable LS Premium 24V Duratec. Be sure to have your VIN # on hand cause I imagine that would be the first thing they will ask. That's if the time limit for a response to the recall hasn't passed. Good luck.
