Hi all. My name is Lee and i am new to this board. I guess to introduce myself i am almost 19 and i am going to school to be an auto tech but electrical and transmissions are a weak point of mine. I just started school too so i have not covered those areas. Anyways i am using my dads 2000 Sable DOHC 24 Valve automatic Sable. When i drive it the green overdrive off light flashes at me constantly. What does that mean? Also it does not shift right and sometimes at all. It will stay in overdrive even from a stop. Take off too highway speed in the same gear. I parked and turned it off and shifted gears and it doesnt always go into gear. I have to wiggle the shifter to get it to go into reverse or overdrive. And when it does shift it does so very odd. It will accelerate and then bog down during the shift and then pick back up. Oh and it wouldnt shift out of overdrive on the highway. I was running over 3000 rpms the entire time. Any ideas?

Problem number two. The speedometer does not work. It was just bouncing back and forth and then all sudden it just died and now the speedo and trip and odometers do not work at all. gas gauge and tach work tho. Any ideas on that? Thanks in advance!!!

hey, well i figured out the problem and fixed it. It ended up being the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) actually broke in half and tore the inside of it up pretty good.

I just had the same problem. I replaced the speed sensor and nothing changed. Any ideas?
