Hello,

We bought a 2002 Sable used. The Sable has a panel on the drivers side door right under the exterior handle where I can enter a code to unlock the door. Well, the wife managed to lock her keys in the car today during work and things would have gone a lot easier if I knew what the code was.

Is the code written anywhere under the hood or is there anyway else to find it? I'm sure I can take it to the dealership, but they will want to charge me big bucks to reset it, I'm sure.

I don't think my 03 could be too much different. I bought it used also and wanted to know the factory code without paying the dealer $50.

Check the trunk hinge first. If not there, then look under the dashboard, drivers side, to the left of the brake pedal is a fuse block. Pull that fuse cover off.

At the rear of the fuse block (against the floorpan/firewall) you'll see a small white plastic/paper tab. This tab is only one inch long and one-quarter inch wide. You will probably have to be outside the car and on your knees to see that far back and up. You may have to fold the tab over a little, but thecode is on the tab. Also note the code may be reversed.Edited by: wyantwayne
