I have a 2000 Sable which has been developed a vibration ( feels like a tire out of balance) above 45 mph only when accelerating or going uphilland onbraking. Maintaining constant speed it's as smooth as glass. This has been slowly getting worse over the last 7-8 mos. During that time I've got new tires and had them rebalanced and rotated, new front brakes and rotors and had the cv joints and motor mounts checked. Any suggestions?

FYI - In case anyone has this problem, I took it to another shop that specializes in front ends and he found a bad inner joint on the half shaft that drives the right wheel. Vibe gone.

If anyone is told by your mechanic that you aconstant velocityjoint replaced, tell him/her that you want the whole axle replaced. A CV joint is as expensive if not more than the whole shaft, and takes longer to remove and replace, hence more labor costs.

You are right conan. In fact the inner joints for the Sable are usually sold with the shaft as an assembly. The outer ones can be bought separately.
