2000 mercury sable ls premium: the washers for the windshield do you not spray in front or back. I have checked fuses and fluid levels. Do they have a tendency to go out on this car?

Sounds like the washer fluid pump went. Or if you live where it is cold all winter the lines could have frozen up. I had some cheap summer washer fluid in mine and it froze up in the washer hose lines on a cold fall night. I don''t think they are prone to failure though. My ''97 has the stock pump.

Thanks for the info! I live in Louisiana so they shouldn''t have frozen. I will get a new pump. Are there different pumps for the front and back or are they the same?

The parts place will know which pump goes in which tank.

Not sure, my Equinox has just one pump for the front and rear(CHEVY). It would seem weird though if you do have two, that they would both crap out at the same time. I would check alittle further. Are there one or two resivoirs?Edited by: conan312

I had a problem with mine. The way i solve it was to take outthe fluid motor and spray it with WD 40. The fluid motor was struck and the WD 40 loose it. Now it is working again. Once it works again make sure you put some silicon solution aroundthe fluid motorto make it waterproof. It doesn"t heard to try this first before you go and spent money. Good luck and hope this works.

Turns out that someone had just discarded the hose from the pump to the sprayers. Everytime I hit the button I was just washing my engine. Problem has been corrected thanks!
