96 Tracer - Starter Issues

I have a 96 Tracer 1.9. I started having issues where when I would go to start the vehicle it would crank over slow but the vehicle would still start. I cleaned battery terminals but am wondering if the starter is going out. I went out tonight and tried to start the vehicle and it would turn over but very slow. Kind of like if a battery was about dead. The difference was that it would continue to crank over but very slow. Any thoughts on where to start? Wondered if the starter could be going bad.

The easiest plan of attack here is to take the car to AutoZone or Advance Auto and have the battery tested for free. They will load test the battery and test the Alternator output and give you the results. If your battery is 4+ years old, replace it. If battery is good, look at voltage drop on wiring to starter (s/b less than 1 volt drop), next look at starter to measure amperage draw - to see if starter is drawing too many amps.

Glad it was a simple fix. The starter is kind of a PITA to replace.
