My buddy has a 1993 murcury tracer. It is stick. When you try to turn on the car the only thing that happens is the check engine light comes on, doesn't even try to turn over. There is no power to anything else like headlights, brake lights don't come on when you hit the brakes, absolutly everything in the car is dead. Can anybody tell me what the problem could be. The only thing we can think of is the computer cause the battery is fine and there must be some juice getting tothe computer in order for the check engine light to come on.

Check your bettery terminals. If they're loose or dirty that can preventthe car from turning over. How is the alternator?
