Hi, apparently my 97 Villager has a short somewhere, which causes it to
lock itself with no warning. It mostly shows up when you push the unlock button, about a half second later it will start locking the doors. When it acts up, it will keep locking over and over, you can hear it clicking. I've talked to other people who have reported the same problem but no fixes, so I was wondering if this is a known defect on these vans, and what the fix is. I can work on testing each component, but would like a starting point if anyone has one. Since it happens most when the passenger door unlock button is pushed I'm thinking the problem is there, but it occurs regardless of which unlock button is pushed. It will act up about every other time with the driver side, but every time the passenger side is used it goes nuts. This problem also means that the key has to be used to unlock the door, and to unlock from the outside you have to put the key in, turn, and leave until the door is open instead of just unlocking the door, pulling the key out and then opening the door like you can on any other vehicle. Thanks. |
Well, I found the problem on my own. There is a TSB on this
problem. I was able to get a copy, requires a lot of work and a bunch of parts. Problem is caused by moisture. |
Where did you find the TSB?
