Is '99 Digital Cluster plug-n-play swap for Analog Cluster?
 

My tach is dead on my '99 analog cluster. Is the digital cluster a direct swap replacement? If so, can the odometer be set to match current mileage?

Anyone know? I'm new to the Villi. Just got a great looking Estate model to replace my Odyssey that got totaled in an icy grated bridge wreck.

actually the cluster is digital with analog style gauges. Take the cluster out and check to make sure the contacts on the back aren't corroded. If they are, clean them off and it should be good to go.

Ok, I may try that. But is the full digital cluster that is available for my year a direct swap?

I don't mod Fords,but i'll throw in my thoughts.
If it is from same model etc.. it MIGHT.
It will not be totally plug and play though.
The dealership will need to do a programmable module installation on any change with the cluster on most models.

Some vehicles have what is known as a HEC (Hybrid electronic cluster).
HEC's are not just a cluster,they are a standalone module and hold programming for several things (Including PATS security).
*If the car doesn't have a HEC,you can't install one i'm pretty positive-totally different way of doing things than the other style*
If it will plug in,i'm thinking it will work-but you won't know for sure till the dealership plugs it in and attempts to program it.


Why not just have the cluster repaired?
A buddy of mine is the guy on EBAY that repairs these clusters,he lives right up the road.
If it's the cluster itself (the stepper motors for the guage needle) than he can replace them.

I picked up a villager factory wiring diagram recently. The electronic cluster is not a direct swap. It has a few different wires going to the cluster for various different functions. It has a built in message center which receives status from the ecu. A circuit which my model wasn't equipt with.

Take the cluster out and check to make sure the contacts on the back aren't corroded. If they are, clean them off and it should be good to go.

It turned out the tach was just fine. The gauge face had slipped out of position and was resting on the needle axle. I superglued the the face in its correct position and haven't had a problem since. Sorry for the delayed update.
