I drive a 1996 Mercury Villager and for the last few days when I start the car I smell a Gas Odor... very strong. I have peaked under the hood and didn’t see anything unusual or out of place. The odor is strongest when the Car has had a Cold start and the Defrost is on. Any ideas? < =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-45"; Edited by: Delaro

Milage on your 96 ??

Is this when veh. is "idol", just sitting running, or can you smell go'n down the road as well? In idol, open hood and smell area around the "fuel pressure regulator" at right end of injectors (I'll post a pic. if needed). Do you get same strong gas odor, then smell back near firewall. Odd's, you should get same smell from Fuel Pressure Reg. location, and check you fuel hose to unit. Most likely, it is the unit itself, very easy to change. Not sure on cost. Soaked on this with an older 91 Caravan, leaked internal for about a year, then split/excess fuel everywhere.

Let me know.
