My 1997 Mercury Villager is making a strange noise. When I put the brake on, it goes away. Any ideas?????
I''m going with a wear indicator on the brake pad. Check the front pads for wear and possible rotor damage.
most likely you have rust from the rotor that broke off and is being dragged on the pad and rotor. this will cause the noise goes away when you hit the brakes. clean the rotor sides with as wire brush, not thepart that the brakes go on . th edges flake off rust and get stuck between the pads.
If you have brake noise, check the rotors and the pads for wear, or drums and shoes for the same. If rust was capable of making a strange noise by getting in between a pad and a rotor,(not happening) it would be obliterated immediatly. Next time just ask kbsmom if a solution was found to the problem when you feel like throwing in your rusty 2 cents. You are a posting whore Jason, who has no idea of proper forum etiquette.
