Value Help LN 1985 V8 Manual
#1
I purchased a few non- car items for a gentleman today. He said he has a 1985 Capri hatchback with a 302 engine and 5 speed (4 speed?). The car has 3000 yes 3000 mile on it. He also purchased a new 351 crate engine at the same time, and it is unused - never installed in anything. Any idea of the value for the car and also the spare engine? The car was driven a little over the years, than his wife became ill three years ago and he drained the gas tank and stored it in his garage (Usual problems to sort out I am sure.)
Thanks.

Well, while it''s not what eveyone would call a collectable, they are rare and it was one of the earliest years of that long-lasting Mustang body style. If it has been garaged for all these years it should be in immaculate condition and worth a good deal more than the top Blue Book price. If it is manual, 5-speed. Auto w/overdrive would make it a four speed. As for the crate motor, I guess it depends on if it is a long or short block. Being a 351 from the early to mid 80''s, check the vin # for more info on H.P. and tourque ratings which will make it worth more or less. Probably for a pick-up or even better a police car. Probably will need rubber replacement, i.e. hoses, belts, wipers, tires, etc.( dry rot, cracking, flat spots on tires ) And of course all fluid and filter changes. Let me know if you pursue the car. I''d love to hear more about it.
