Recently I''''ve had an issue where if I am starting off from a stand still while facing uphill the engine hesitates for 5 to 10 seconds. The RPMs are not increasing from idle and its like its not really getting gas. I have to floor it just to get it moving. Then there is a pop/thud sound under the hood andthen the gas actually kicks in. If I revive the RPMs before letting off the clutch its OK but if your facing uphill its hard to hit the gas, clutch and brake at the same time. It sometimes happens when I am on level ground but mostly when I am facing uphill. Anyone have any clue? Its a 2001 5 speed.Edited by: ScottyJ

Sounds like no fuel like you said. This happens even with a full tank of gas? How steep of an incline are we talking about and is it the same hill that keeps causing this? If it is a decent incline, I''ve heard of Ford''s famous inertia switch causing probs like this. Let me know.
