key wont turn in ignition
#2
If you are putting the key in and it won't turn in the ignition then the chip in your key may be bad, or you said that your car had been dead for a while it is very possible that the computer in your car can't read the chip b/c its memory may have got screwed up, me and my wife on a cougar and our chip is bad in our key. We have to try a few times to get it to turn the ignition, If your steering column is locked in place than you won't be able to start it. If the sterring wheel isn't lined up with the tires pointing straight it won't start either, once you get it to start don't take the key out

this may sound obvious but when my 99 cougar does that it's because the steering wheel has the ignition locked up. pull the steering wheel downward or upward and turn it from side to side a little while turning the ignition. usually my ignition clicks then i'm good to go.
