2001 mountaineer all wheel drive problem

I have a 2001 mountaineer that acts like it is stuck in 4 wheel drive. It makes a noise when I am pulling in or pulling out. Seems to quit when it gets goin.

Yeah you could do that if you wanted to. As long as you mean the driveshaft from the transfer case to the axle. Just don't take out the flanges that the shaft bolts to on each end.
