Discovered my cigarette lighter socket will not provide 12V power to my GPS. Are a lighter socket and a 12V outlet socket different? Checked the fuse and it looks OK. Guess I'll pull the lighter socket out and test the connection to isolate the problem.

 

they don't properly line up with 12v power plug so its best to add a 12v socket
