I bought a 1997 mercury Sable & the owner lost the oringal code for the keyless entry. I am wondering if anyone can help me find out what it is so I can use this feature.

Thanks John

Orignally the code was on a white sticker on one of the trunk hinges if it is not there you can take it to a dealer and they will be able to retrieve it for you for a small price..

The keyless entry code on both my '97 Mountaineer and '97 Explorer were in the same place. Open up the jack hatch. Inside you will see an electrical juntion box. On the box facing the interior is a 5 digit code. Write it down, so you don't forget it. Put it with your papers when you purchased the vehicle. That way when you either forget or sell the vehicle, you'll make someone happy. Also, I found out that if you depress the 7-8 & 9-0 buttons at the same time it locks all the doors.

Try the last six digits of the V.I.N. located on the drivers side windshield viewed from outside. Don't steal any cars with this info...I don't want to be an accessory to grand theft auto.

the entry code on my 1996 sable is a 5 digit numberon the computer in the firewall. small rectangular box more toward the driver side upper firewall. hit the last digit twice to open your trunk. there are probably quite a few #'s on the box and some are hard to see , just look for the 5 digit ones. let me know.

any ford lincoln mercury with the key pad option can lock its doors by pushing the last two buttons on the right. i have the the same year sable and did not havemy code and the dealer told me exactly where to find it. if you look where i wrote above you will find it.
