The shift indicator on my 2005 Grand Marquis has quit moving when I shift gears. The red needle has flopped over to the right side and just lies there. My mechanic told me the repair part is no longer available. And, the parts for other years no not fit the 2005 model. Any suggestions?

 

Behind the steering wheel shift cover there is a small screw that has come detached.
If you're careful it should still be attached to the shift cable.... mine was.
Screw it back into the hole and tighten.
Replace the cover and your shift indicator should work.
