Default 03 Grand Marquis Directional problem

The right side directional flashes faster than the left. Checked all the bulbs on both sides, and all are functional. Am I missing something? I hear that the flasher is a built in unit and cannot be replaced. Anyone else have this happen? Is there a mystery bulb somewhere I am not seeing? I have not replaced any of them so a wrong bulb is ruled out.

double chck tails byr removing and checking filaments... might be good to check fronts also... usually a fast flash means bad buld on the side it flashes fast for... my older cars just light and dont flash ... at least they did before i replaced with all LED lighting in entire car and swapped flasher...

Agreed. It is almost always a burned out bulb causing that, but it can also be a short in the multi-function switch in the steering column. Mine will occasionally do that only when signaling a right turn and I can correct it by giving the turn signal stalk a little wiggle.

I really should fix it, but it happens so rarely I don't really worry about it.

Thanks for the info BFM.. My 96 has been doing that for years.. Never really bothered to investigate it untill you mentioned jiggling the handle (now I think of a toilet when signalling) It seems I have the same issue.. And it'll probably get fixed if it quits all together...

BFM70: I had the same problem with my wife's 93 vic. I HOSED down the hazard switch (top of the column on that car) and the turn signal switch with some contact cleaner. haven't had the problem since and it's been about 3 years now since I did that.
