03 Grand Marquis LS wouldn't shift out of park & had no brake lights. Brake switch replaced - brake lights now work, but still won't shift out of park. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated!!

Its the shift interlock I am sure you have heard this. If you need to move or drive it all you need to do is put the key in the ignition turn it to the first click move gear lever to neutral and start it. You can drive it but every time you put it in park it will lock up again. So you have to do the same thing again. You put in a new brake light switch thats usually it. Check and make sure you have enough brake fluid and you have no leaks or bad brake line. Check fuses also. Anything to do with braking will lock out the transmission so you cannot move. Hope this helps.
