Default 1985 Gran Marquis start problem?

Hi,
Just found a 1985 Gran Marquis,302 engine.Car has been sitting for 4 plus years.I installed a battery but the starter solenoid was all disconnected.I got the car to crank and turn over but it will not stay running.Fuel is in the tank and I know this car has a reset switch in the trunk for the fuel pump.Is there a way to bypass this switch. Also, should you hear the fuel pump cycle ?Is there a wiring schematic to make sure I have the solenoid wired correctly?I thought there was a wire off the solenoid that controlled the pump?I may be wrong on this though. As I said before, the car cranks, fires, then quits.Any other suggestions.I also may be looking at the wrong fix. Thanks for responding to this. Bob J.

it may need a new fuel filter. Since it's been sitting for so long, there may be sediment build up in the filter. To hear the fuel pump, you'll need to remove the gas cap and have someone turn the key to on without starting it. Sometimes you just can't hear it inside the car.

Did you put new gas in it? Maybe some dry gas, too.
