Hi my name is jason i live in edmonton I''m currently driving a 96 grand marquis 4.6L. Theres a major coolant leak seems to be coming from the rear of the motor although there are traces at the top on the passenger side. the car didn''t over heat and there is no cooant in the pan. I just got the car a few months agoand haven''t had the chance to buy a repair manual. what could this be???

Sometimes these are hard to see when fluid is all over the place. A common problem with the year car you have is the manifold. thecoolant passover is plastic and later versions have the metal crossover because of these always falling apart. Check if it is leaking around there. This is the first place to look. Let me know. You can buy good used ones with the new version "PI manifold" on ebay for cheap

no problem.

make sure the vaccum lines are ok. coolant can eat it.a good way to check it is use a propane tank. attatch a rubber hose to the end of the on/off valve. open the tank. start the car. spray the propane around the vaccum lines. if the car seems to run better when it hits a line then you have a bad vac line. the propane will seep into the lines and make a car run better if there is a leak.
