Question ALL-Metal Intake manifold Available for the 1992 Grand Marquis??

Friends,

I've found a 1992 LS with a REALLY NICE body/interior, rebuilt AT (with warranty/receipts), 4 near new tires & about 130K miles BUT with BLOWN HEADGASKET & a CRACKED plastic intake manifold. = I'm told that it did NOT overheat & shows no signs of that severe malady.
(The engine still runs.)
The current owner got discouraged with the car after buying 4 new tires, having about 1400.oo spent on the transmission & then had the head gasket go. - At this juncture, he just wants his aged parent's car GONE & offered it to me for what Pic-N-Pull offered him as a "junked car"..

IF I buy the '92 GM (for scrap price) to restore, does anyone make an ALL METAL manifold??
(I really don't want to have to do that particular repair again.)

Fwiw, I've been told that the aluminum/plastic composite manifold "has problems" too. - Do any of you have a knowledgeable opinion on that??

yours, tex

The original factory intake manifold on '92 thru '95 Grand Marquis is an all-aluminum manifold.
I have put 126,000 miles on a '92 with no problems.
Currently, I have 161,000 miles on the '95 MERC, also with no problems.
If you can find one, the original aluminum manifold is the way to go. You will probably have to repair the aluminum manifold, as they are usually damaged at the "sealing area".
The plastic/aluminum manifolds that are available vary in quality -- The DORMAN manifold is popular and inexpensive -- worth checking Amazon reviews for potential problems with that brand.
And, as always, E-bay is worth a look-see.
Good Luck !!

95 MERC,

THANKS for the info. = I know a talented welder (out of the oil patch), who can usually fix anything that's aluminum, including cast aluminum.
