Auto door lock noise 2008 MGM
I just bought a new 2008 Grand Marquis. The automatic door locks make an extremely loud noise when they activate - as if there is no sound deadner around them and are hitting bare sheet metal.. In fact there is some metalic ringing when they actuate on. I traded a 2003 Crown Vic that had the same feature but was very quiet. The dealer and I checked other new 2008 & 2009 MGMs and they all sound similar. I also suspect that there is not as much sound deadening material in the doors as there was in my Crown Vic. Anyone experienced this and fixed it?
My 05 CV does the same thing. Yet my 99 was quiet. It looks like Ford Linc Mercury is cutting back on sound deadening materials as time goes on. I also notice that my 99 rode allot quieter then my 05 CV or our 07 Grand Marquis.

I would go back to the dealer like Brian did and demand they sound insulate the doors. It is supposed to be a rear-drive, full size luxury car, right? That''s why we buy them. As for road noise in Miami Beach, I''m thinking it''s a mixture lesser sound proofing but more due to the sizable increase in tire dimensions.
