Default Balljoint Question

Hi.
I`m a new member posting from Sweden. Hope you´re all ok over there.
I´m building a badass Hotrod using front and backend from a Mercury Grand Marquis GS 1992 on a selfmade chassie and a body from an Auburn Speedster 1936.
My question: When I disassemled the frontend I didn´t notice that the upper balljoints were different. They are a little bit twisted. The were bad so I ordered new ones. Thought that both sides were the same. Ordered from Rockauto. Part ID:SKP SK8600. The first that came was junk. Not manufatured right so I got new ones. The looked great. But...they were for the same side. I don`t have the old ones left so I don´t know for wich side they are...
Anyway, I needed one for the other side so I asked Rockauto´s helpdesk for advice. They said that they fit...but won´t tell me for what side they are. And the info for the item does not say that either. Tried again but they just won´t tell me...very annoying
So..can any of you tell me what side I got and what part from their catalog I need? The one have is, if I hold it with the adjustmentholes towards me and the joint pointing down, twisted to the left.
I´m confused..

Default Upper Ball Joints

Hello, Staffan, and welcome to the Mercury Forums --
Those Ball Joints are confusing -- I used MOOG "Problem Solver" Greaseable Ball Joints for the 95 MERC suspension overhaul, and they have worked out very well. I don't recall an issue with the left-right orientation.
Here's the deal:
Ball Joints -- 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis
Left Upper = AC Delco #45D0072
Right Upper = AC Delco #45D0073
RockAuto.com has 'em today.
The AC Delco parts are a step above the quality level (cost more, too) of the ones you chose, and the part numbers on the AC Delco box will tell you which side the part belongs on.
I can't even imagine an Auburn body on a Grand Marquis chassis -- send us some pictures !!

Hi again.
I mixed up wich side is wich....
I´ve got two for the same side, it would be dumb to buy the same once again.
Can someone tell me what direction they should lean?
Since mine are twisted they can lean towards the front of the car or the back.
I will try to add some pictures of my build.

You say that you have "two for the same side".
That means that no matter how you arrange them, one will be wrong and, well, WRONG.
You can't make them work properly if one side is wrong, and it may be "dumb" to buy another set, but even "dumber" to install parts knowing that one of them "leans" the wrong way.
HOWEVER, I have the Mercury Service Manual in front of me, and will try to describe the ball joint orientation in regards to the chassis.
Right (passenger side in USA) side ball joint - front of car indicated by longer section of control arm -- right hand ball joint is identified by mark on top of ball joint forging, between adjusting nuts. -- left side is marked the same way.
Looking down at the ball joint assembly, the ball joint is slightly rearward of the adjusting nut centerline, indicating that the ball joint is "twisted" toward the REAR of the vehicle.
I hope this info helps, but it seems to me that the best way to get things RIGHT is to get the exact parts that were mentioned previously, and install them one-at-a-time, so as not to confuse the two different sides.

Default Auburn Marquis ??

I saw them in the Gallery, and knew right away what they were.
Looking good -- strange exhaust system -- cool windscreen.
How did you come upon that Auburn ?? Such a rare beast is sure to grab much attention.
You must be quite skilled at automotive stuff in order to accept such a challenging build.
Best of luck with your massive undertaking -- keep us posted, please.
