Considering an 05 GM. I have questions...
New member, first post.
I’m considering an 05 Grand Marquis LS Premium. It has 65000 miles and is listed by a dealer for $4995. I haven’t actually seen the car yet, just viewed it on the dealer’s website. The Autocheck report looks good, no reported issues.
I figure I can talk them down to $4500 just based on the sticker price, and I won’t buy unless it looks good. It would be an occasional car for grocery runs into the city (30 miles) and maybe an occasional leisure drive to a destination a few hours away.
Any particular issues I should be on the lookout for or cautions? Is this a good year/bad year? Price reasonable? It seems in line or maybe a bit lower than others of this model in my area. I’ve never owned a Ford product so I’m not farmiliar with their particular idiosyncrasies.
TIA for any help.

Considering 05 Marquis
'95 MERC at Flaming Gorge, Utah.
Hello, Elkins !!
WELCOME !!
65,000 miles on a 14-year-old car is REAL low miles -- GREAT !!
Check to make SURE that the car has not been in FLOOD WATERS !!
If it looks real clean and runs real smooth, HAGGLE !!
Tell 'em 4 grand is a fair price for a Brand that hasn't been made in several years -- or something.
The Grand Marquis is a fine car -- very reliable, very safe.
My restored '95 MERC is still going strong at 163,000 miles -- 16 city, 25 Hi-way

All things equal, I would go for the newer one.Mileage difference is not an issue between the two.

Newest, Or Lowest Miles ?
Sorry for the delayed response -- been recovering from laser eye surgery, and then doing a fuel/air/intake overhaul, ignition system and EGR system service.
Yours is not an easy choice, since it's very rare that we see a case of "all things being equal".
When faced with such a choice, I consider "Miles Per Year" as a major factor, looking for the lowest number as ideal.
In your case:
2005 @ 65,000 mi. = 4,650 miles per year.
2007 @ 81,000 mi. = 6,750 miles per year.
For comparison, miles DO count, as you can see:
The '05 was DRIVEN 45% LESS than the '07.
The '05 would be my choice.
The 95 MERC is at 166,000 = 6,640 miles per year.
