dropped something in the vent
#1
Me and my GF were driving around and we got home, she took off the necklace i gave her and set it on the dash and it fell down into the defrost vent. HOW DO I GET IT OUT?... my grandfather is a locksmith, so i grabbed a tool in the shed to fish it out, i could see the chain off the reflection of the window while i was using a flash light, i thought i had it and it fell... i heard it land in something near the glove box, i opened the glove box and it wasn''t there... does anyone know where it went and how i can get it out? O.o
1989 grand marquis btw >.<

if you have one of those long flexible tweezers/grabbers you can use that to fish it out, otherwise you''ll have to take the duct-work apart (which requires taking apart some of the dash if not the whole dash out) to get at the defrost duct to get it out.
I doubt a magnetic tipped tool will get it out.

actually, i got it out a whole lot easier than i thought....
under the dash, under the ash trey.... where the vents heat your feet up.... just take that off and you can just reach to the right into the black box under the glove-box... or use a magnet on a string .... but just grab and go.... if anyone else drops anything through the defrost vent.. i hope this helps. it takes about 5 minutes or so to do this and you dont have to take the dash apart.

@RUBxxx: Good to know, I have to check that sometimes (yeah right).
I just assembled my dash and dropped a screw in the top vent (windows defrost). I turned on the fan on high, direction to window, and used my home vacuum. I got lucky, it sucked it out right away.
I know I know. I just cleaned my vacuum a few months ago, so it was not too bad to get inside and get the screw out (it was on of those fancy Ford ones with the rotating washer attached to it.
Greetings!
