Out of the blue, my 96 Grand Marquis has a small red light that started flashing about every second when the car is turned off. The light is located on the driver's side dash board near the wind shield. I don't have an owners manual so I can't trouble shoot. What is this flashing light trying to tell me?

Didn't know that had that in 96, but it is telling you that the security system is working to prevent the car from starting without the proper key. It goes off when you put the key in, starts flashing approximately 30 seconds after the key is removed. In other words you have no problem.

 

The 96 does not have that option. It has to be an aftermarket alarm system. But even then.... It evidently is working.

 

Then pull the Climate control head and ck for vacuum there. The head could also be bad. Not sending the vacuum to the right place quick enough.
