Head gasket

My car is a 1992 MGM but with a 1995 engine.I need to know if there's a number on the engine that I can use to buy the the head gasket.I decided to repair my engine and I found the head bolts but there are different option of gasket between the engines years and different prices too.I really need the one that fit my engine perfect.Thank you very much..

What choices did they give you exactly??? Were you looking at an entire head gasket set, or just the individual head gaskets?? Could it have been different brands? The head gaskets themsemves are the same from 1992 - 2008, however the full head gasket set does differ though out the years...

This is the full set for 1995 to 2000 but I'm not sure if the engine is 1995 thats why I was looking for a number or something in the engine. I have another question and is what is holding the intake manifold in the back of it because I can lift it but I can take it from the car. Thank you

Hmm.... I'm sure there is some sort of way to ID which year it is, but off hand I'm not sure.. Some of these engines did have a sicker on the valve cover that would have a date, if that is still in tact... I know the difference is the intake manifold gasket, but I am not exactly sure what the difference is.. 1995 still used a cast aluminum intake AFIK..

As far as your intake, does it wiggle aroung but just doen;t want to come out of there??
This is just a guess, there is a metal tube that goes from the passenger side manifold to the EGR valve on the intake... Kind of a bear to get to, but this needs to be disconnected...

There are stamped casting #'s on the block, heads, crackshaft, etc. You just need to know which one you need and how to decipher it. I will research a little if you like.

I'm not really sure how you do it but you are always right..I find the year on the engine and is not 95 is 96 (5/15/96 6G812AB) so I think those gasket I found works for me and you where right about the intake manifold too.Tomorrow I'm going to buy the tool for the gas line in the intake,the puller to remove the damper and start with the timing chain removal and finally remove both heads.Wish me luck....Thank you very much for be there...

Look what I found when I remove the timing chain cover... Thats why so many water in the crankcase...

Indeed it is!!! Looks like you might have a slighly easier fix than you thought..... I've never even taken notice to that particular freeze plug there... I have to wonder how many of these cars ended up a a junkyard for a "blown head gasket" because of that right there...

Thanks Max for give me the courage to fix my car. I start the engine today and is working fine and the funny thing about it is that the water seal cost 80 cents. The timing chain wasnt damage and You where right about the engine,is not complicated at all. Whats left is to torque the cranckshaft pulley,install the fan,the fan cover and hit the road to see if the engine is working right. Thank you very much fro your help.....
