1996 Grand Marquis.

I am taking her in on Thursday and wanted to check out what you think.

I've noticed that when I crank the engine she idles rough and then down, sometimes shutting down. I also could smell gas like she is flooded or something when around front end. Once I have her in drive though she seems to ride fine. No jumping or idling problems.

I'm thinking fuel filter, fuel pump or just tune-up!

Any tips so as not to get ripped off would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Did you pull the plugs? You should be able to tell if the vehicle is flooding by the plugs. If they are sooted black, then yes, it is probably flooded. It probably couldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter either.
