My '94 Grand Marquis has some sort of idiling problem. When started it sounds like a weak idle and the cars starts to shake a little. While driving there is no problem until I get to a stop of red light, the cars seems to lose power and starts to idle rough. I've been told that it was the EGR valve, but I'm still not sure. Any help?</font>

</>Any check engine light or battery light come on at low idle? Do the lights get dimmer? If not have your IAC motor ( idle air control ) cleaned. Or for aneasy fix, just raise the idle abit. Let me know? P.S. Does your car do this with the defroster or a/c on?</>

i had the exact problem

remove throttle body clean with toothbrush and brake cleaner, clean with a shop rag(clean on) inside intake where throttle body bolts on with the break cleaner as well. solved my problem right away. otherwise another commom issue for this is the IAC or Idle Air Control either or go with cleanin it first then go from there. let me know what happens

_Cheers and good luck

sounds like the IAC. when i went to Pennsylvania for a car meet, my car was acting up almost doing the same thing. cleaned up the IAC and changed the MAF sensor and car ran LOTS better.

Please use carb cleaner if you are going toclean inside the intake or the t-body. Brake cleaner is very corrosive to be spraying in your car's mouth.

it might be corrosive, but think of all the carbon it will break up. i have seen the underside of some intakes for these ars. in the center on bottom side it gets packed with carbon and chokes it out also. a way old timers would clean there valves and such of carbon on carbed engines was to slowly pour water in the engine while it ran since it would steam the insideand break up deposits. most the brake cleaner will do is get in ther system on the intake valves and clean some crap off the internals. the stuff repair shops use for injection system cleanings is more corrosive. you arent supposed to wear latex gloves since it will melt the latex causing it to burn into your skin.

Yes the Check Engine light turns on and the lights also get
dimmer when the car is at idle. Thanks for all the help I’ll be sure to check
the IAC.

o.k. If your lights are getting dimmer then your alternators internal voltage regulator might be on the fritz. get your alternator checked, I thinkmost big auto parts chain stores do it for free, and make sure it is putting out a steady 13.something volts under load. when your engine idle drops low it puts a load on the alternator. or like i said before, try and turn up the idle if you are not inclined to spend money on diagnosis and or parts. let me know.

DO NOT TOUCH IDLE SCREW!!!!

if it is an idle problem, it has something wrong. the screw was not touched causing the problem, soething else happened causing the problem. pull the IAC, clean the hell out of it and where it mounts to.

Have no worriesabout adjusting your idle. If you want a quick fix so it doesn't stall at red lights, then do it. You can always re-adjust it later.
