My car will run with a rough idle, then stall after a while. If i drive it and turn it off, it may take up to 4 hours before it starts again. Could this be the ignition coil or packing? It is a 1992 grand marquis ls with only 73K milesEdited by: deadpirahna

yeah... probably the coil... do check the plugs and wires while you''re at it. also if it''s a distributor system, check the cap and rotor for wear. it could also be the ingnition module. If it''s a distributorless system, it could be the coil packs (should be one mounted on each valve cover) or the ECM. I would think that if it''s the latter 2, it would be giving codes. You may want to see of you can get the computer read and see if there''s any codes that may help diagnose this.

Have you checked Ford''s ever reliable ingnition module? My Ranger did the same until I changed the mod. and it runs fine now.
