Default Landiolet Removal

Hey, I'm looking at buying my first car, and most likely it will be a Grand Marquis LS.

Recently I saw an "ultimate edition" Grand Marquis for sale, and its an 03. My only issue with the car is what I believe is called the Landiolet, its the weird fake convertible roof resembling thing. I hope you know what I mean.

It looks to me like there are screws that can just be unfastened to pull it off, but Im not 100% sure. Also, I'm a little worried that the roof and doors under it will not be painted like the rest of the body.

Do you have any insight on this? The car really is a great buy, and that roof is the only thing stopping me from buying it right now.

Welcome!! Indeed a great car! (I swear I'm not biased) I can understand wanting to remove that top though, fake convertible looking things are hideous!

Not exactly sure what all is involved with removal, but chances are good that it's not properly pained underneath.. Good chance that the seams for the roof are unfinished as well... Back in the days of vinyl tops they did the same thing.. I guess the thinking was why spend a few bucks to finish seams and paint if we're gonna cover it anyhow...

Thanks for the help. I guess that's kind of a lot of work, too much actually. I don't want to have to sand the car down, repaint it and deal with all that.

It's too bad, I was looking at one with 20k miles for only 8 grand, but I suppose I'll come upon an alternative at some point.
